What is Cyberpunk 2077?

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action RPG developed by CD Projekt Red, released on December 10, 2020 for PC, PlayStation and Xbox, with a next-gen update arriving in 2022. Set in the sprawling megacity of Night City, you play as V, a mercenary outlaw pursuing a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. The game features a massive open world with six distinct districts — Watson, Westbrook, Heywood, Pacifica, City Center and Dogtown (the last added in the Phantom Liberty expansion) — each with its own factions, side quests, vendors and visual identity. Character customization runs deep: you pick your life path (Nomad, Streetkid or Corpo), distribute points across five attributes (Body, Reflexes, Technical Ability, Intelligence and Cool), unlock perks across dozens of skill trees, and install cyberware at Ripperdocs scattered across the map. The result is a game where two players can have radically different experiences in the same open world, depending on how they build, what weapons they favor and which factions they ally with.

The 2.0 update (September 2023) and Phantom Liberty expansion completely overhauled the game: a reworked skill tree system that lets you respec at any time, a new vehicle combat mechanic with mounted weapons and jacking, improved police AI that scales to your level, a redesigned perk system organized around playstyles rather than grinding, and the expansive Dogtown district with its own story, vendors and encounters.
